Transitioning to Natural Skincare with Rocky Mountain Soap Company

I know I sound like a broken record when I say that the transition to using more natural skincare products can be pretty difficult; it took me almost half a year to really feel comfortable making the switch and even then, it was a matter of finding products that would work as well as my beloved Vichy Aqualia Thermal line. (Long gone are the days that last shopped for skincare at a drugstore or Sephora!)

Rocky Mountain soap company 🇨🇦

Rocky Mountain Soap Company is a Canadian owned and operated brand that specializes in natural personal care products. As is the story with most natural beauty companies, Rocky Mountain Soap Company was founded based on the idea that natural ingredients are better than the numerous untested chemicals that appear within many personal care products (and I can’t say I disagree with that!)

I was lucky enough to receive the Transformative Cleansing Oil, Pomegranate Day Cream and a bar of the Pumpkin Soap to test and review.

Pomegranate Day Cream $35.00 CAD

Face cream is one of the hardest natural skincare products to find (in my opinion.) I went through a lot of different brands before finding out which ingredients work best for me. Unfortunately, most natural face creams have Coconut Oil as one of their main ingredients and I have found that it leads to breakouts on my skin. Coconut Oil is comedogenic is has the ability to clog pores – especially if you already have combination or oily skin.

The Pomegranate Day Cream also has coconut oil within it (see ingredient list below.) Which means that my skin and this product have an iffy background; that being said, my skin has been much more dry (Thanks pregnancy hormones!) and I haven’t noticed an influx of acne appearing on my skin. 👍

I have only been using this product for two weeks. Usually I like to test skincare products for 4-5 weeks before reviewing; I will update this post after that timeline (and update on instagram stories… here.)

I’ve been using this in the morning after cleansing, toning and applying some squalane oil to my skin; it sinks in quickly and has a lovely light citrus scent! I’m really glad that it hasn’t caused any breakouts (yet) because I’ve become quite attached to it – it’s perfect for my dry skin during the transition of seasons.

Overall, the ingredient list is packed full of some amazing moisturizing and skin-conditioning ingredients. Although I find the list to be rather long it doesn’t seem to have filler ingredients that are only used to bulk it up.

Transformative Cleansing Oil $41.50 CAD

If you’re a long-time reader of my blog, then you know that cleansing oil and myself aren’t really a match made in heaven. That being said, I’ve been working on incorporating cleansing oils and moisturizers into my skincare routine.

During this time of year (fall-spring) when the weather is becoming more dry and my skin takes a beating I have been enjoying this cleansing oil. I’ve found my skin to be a lot less problematic. Usually my nose becomes dry-skin haven and so far it’s been doing fantastic! (Minus the cold that has me blowing my nose 30 times an hour…)

To use this, squirt 1-2 pumps onto your hand then massage into your skin and remove with a warm face towel. Towel off excess oil and finish with a toner.

Pumpkin Bar Soap $5.50 CAD

I was super nervous when I opened this up because unlike a lot of people, I’m not a fan of pumpkin. Pumpkin flavour, pumpkin scent… I just don’t like any of it. For some reason I had imagined that this would be akin to the smell of a freshly baked pumpkin pie, but it’s completely unscented!

It’s designed for soothing dry and itchy skin; the pumpkin pulp helps to exfoliate and the sweet almond oil is for moisturizing.

Using the Rocky Mountain Soap Company to Transition to Natural Skincare

I’m genuinely impressed with all the products I was given to try; when I first opened the package I honestly thought that these would be duds… but they aren’t!

The most surprising thing was that the Transformative Cleansing Oil has officially won a special place in my heart (or on my bathroom shelf!)

If you’re thinking about making the switch to natural skincare, then the Rocky Mountain Soap Company is a great place to start. Their products are toxin-free and entirely based on natural ingredients. I honestly wish that I had heard of this brand sooner!

  • Right now I am loving the MVOrganic 9 Oil Cleansing Tonic, way more expensive than what you showed us here, but such a lovely blend of oils to use for cleansing on skin irritated by the cold.

  • I was sent products from them as well but I’m so glad they sent each blogger different products so we don’t all end up reading the same thing lol. That cleansing oil seems right up my alley and it’s perfect with removing makeup before using a cleansing wash!
