Ingredient of the Month… | The Easiest Resolution You Can Make!

Yes, yet another New Years Resolution post – but this time it isn’t really about me. I mean, it is… but it’s also mostly about you, my ever so wonderful readers! I’ve decided to take the reigns and create a Monthly Newsletter.

Ingredient of the Month…

I wasn’t sure if it needed an introduction, but it was an idea that sprung up out of the blue on a cold December day (kidding! I’m not really sure what the weather was, but because I live in Canada it was probably cold.)

My question was:

“How can I help people who want to know about the chemicals/ingredients in their everyday products, but don’t have the time to research it themselves?”

It’s all well and good thinking “Oh yeah I want to avoid bad chemicals,” but it’s a real pain in the arse when you have to do all the research yourself. Plus, how should you know what to search for? How much time will it take to get the real facts?

The answer is, it takes a heck of a lot of time to properly research chemicals and ingredients, especially if you don’t really have a scientific background and have no interest in reading peer-reviewed journals. As great as Google is, there’s plenty of websites that don’t have the correct research.

You’re in Luck!

I’ve decided to take the time and do the research for you! Because I’m one of those weird people who actually enjoys reading peer-reviewed journals and dumbing them down translating them to English.

I’m not calling myself a professional here, I’m just saying I can take the verbal diarrhea and turn it into something that makes sense. Plus, in case you want to experience the joy of reading the peer-reviewed articles I’ll include all the citations for you. Which is great if you’re another weirdo who enjoys to spend their time reading scientific jargon and learning.

What Will You Learn from Ingredient of the Month?

  • On the 1st day of every month you will receive an email with the ingredient/ chemical featured that month. For example, January’s ingredient is Talc!
  • You will receive an overview of the ingredient and what it is used for.
  • You will learn more about the potential side effects (this is where the peer-reviewed journals come in!)
  • You will learn how to swap it out.
    * as of right now none of the emails include affiliate links nor marketing.
  • You will come away with the awareness of ingredients to avoid and/or the misconceptions around them.

This is a completely unbiased review meant for education. I just want people who are genuinely interested in learning about these ingredients to have proper information. Not just what appears first on Google search.

This is the easiest New Years Resolution you can make! It arrives right to your inbox with absolutely no effort on your part! (Of course if you ever have any questions regarding these ingredients I’ll always be here to answer and research them for you!)

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please fill out the email sign up below!

Please leave a comment if there’s any ingredients that you’d like me to feature next!

(Hope to see you on January 1st!)

  • That sounds like such a great idea for a news letter. Funny thing, I was literally thinking about that earlier today and currently even have mail chimp open in one of my tabs.
I actually so read a lot about ingredients, as you, but this seems like it will be an interesting read, so I will definitely be subscribing.

    • Thanks Angela! Mailchimp was definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it I guess it does make sense haha

  • Awesome idea. I am definitely too lazy to do my own research. Lol!

  • Wishing you a happy happy new Year

  • What a wonderful idea! Super creative. If I had more time to actually read all of the e-mails I get I’d definitely sign up but I’ll remember it for sure. Have a lovely 2017! xx

    • Haha, I feel you. I just did a huge cleanse of my inbox. It’s crazy how many different things pile up in there. It’s so much nicer seeing it empty & organized!

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

Happy new year, beautiful! Hope that it is the best one yet. <3 Also, I love this little idea, it's so creative and super helpful! I'm one of those people who honestly have no idea about all the technicalities regarding different ingredients, etc. I don't really take the time to do any research, although I know that I should be more conscious about the products I choose to put on my face! This is a super fun idea though, and I wish you all the best of luck, my darling. <3 I hope that you get many subscribers! You have my support on it, for sure. <3 xoxo

    • Thanks Kay! I really appreciate your support hopefully it will help (that’s my goal!) Please let me know if there’s anything you think I should add to it 🙂
      Happy New Year!

  • Yiotou_La

Yes, yes yes!!! This is a wonderful idea! It’s not the easiest thing to make a research for ingredients while using a product and I sometimes find it hard to understand the terms etc. I am totally subscribing! x

    • Thanks Yiota! It’s definitely not. I hope it helps you – please let me know what you think so I can make it the best it can be 🙂
      Happy New Year!

  • pennyanddash

Loving this idea! Hope you have a great year 🙂

  • Not that I need any more convincing to sign up for your newsletter… I do enjoy reading my journals same as you do, but I will enjoy reading your finds even more I guess.

Sante Soft Cream Foundation | What’s In My Makeup?

Alas, I have hunted for a natural foundation and we have finally found one! You wouldn’t believe how long I hunted in the natural / organic grocery store to pick a natural foundation that was in my colour, affordable, and also light-medium coverage until I tested out this Sante soft cream foundation.
