Last week I shared the Eco-Friendly Gift Guide: For the Home and this week I’m sharing an eco-gift guide for personal use.
Let’s get into the Eco-Friendly Gift Guide
Boring? Maybe. But if you’re looking for a great stocking stuffer it’s an item that will surely get used. That is, unless your friend has horrible oral hygiene.
We all love to snuggle up into bed and there’s nothing better than a brand new set of organic sheets to sleep off our turkey dinner with. Arguably, this could qualify as an eco-home gift too. Look for something GOTS certified. Read more about Sustainable Materials here.
Cold, dry months call for very dry skin and hands. After washing up all the dishes it’s likely that a hand lotion will be needed. Err on the side of caution and purchase fragrance-free－unless you happen to know their favourite scent.
Penny Lane Organics Ultra Hydrating Moisturizer $26.99 CAD (One of my faves!)
Avalon Organics Hand and Body Lotion 32oz $17.23 USD from Amazon (Also one of my faves.)
Reusable Travel Mug
I think I speak for all of us when I say we don’t drink nearly as much water as we really should. This is a great way to encourage your friends to be a bit healthier or just make their coffee addiction a little less wasteful.
For someone you really care about and you want to make a statement for, give them the gift of jewelry. Ethically and sustainably made is preferable. Here are some great options:
The gift of time
Let me get cheesy for a second and say that buying expensive gifts is not always the best way to show someone you care for them. I assume that all my readers are well aware of this and know that the absolute best gift you can give someone is the gift of spending time with them. Memories last longer than objects. (unless that object is made of plastic.)
If they’re into comedy, go to a comedy show. If they love the same music you do, buy some concert tickets. If they enjoy hiking, find a great place to go for a hike. You get the idea.
Conventional perfume is loaded with toxins hidden under the label of parfum/fragrance for their own secret blend. Give the gift of toxin-free perfume with the 7 virtues. They offer a sample pack (a great way to cover your bases!) and with the purchase of each particular scent a donation is made to a different cause. (My personal fave is Vanilla woods!)
