I consider myself the queen of throwing things away; you could call me very non-committal when it comes to products/ items. I wasn’t always like this, but I have a renewed sense of minimalism now that I have my own apartment that I like to keep clean. (You wouldn’t have thought this when I was 16 and had trails from my bed to the door in my room.)
If something doesn’t work for me, I get upset mostly for the waste of money. I hate wasting. In the past I held onto everything in hopes that it might work someday, but that someday obviously never came and it ended up in the trash anyway. This year I have decided to attempt the project pan challenge mostly for products that I do like but I’ve completely forgotten over the years. If I don’t use them in at least six months, I am going to throw them away.
Unknown Eye Shadow Palette
I bought this three years ago (I remember because it was for my Halloween costume) and it cost me a whopping $1.25. As you can tell, the palette is filled with golds of varying degrees… Considering the price it’s a really nice texture and the colour payoff is amazing. I’m kind of worried because it probably has lead or something in it… oh well.
Annabelle Custom Quad
I’m not sure when I bought this, nor how much it cost but it has been a while. Don’t ask me what my mindset was when I picked a gold, silver, copper and white shadow for this quad. I guess I really liked metallics at the time. I’m not a big fan of the way these shadows swatch, but we’ll give it a go.
Maybelline Perfect Pastels “Seashore Frost”
I received this as a gift from Shoppers in 2014, the blue shade is a lot like the pastel pantone colour of the year for 2016 so maybe if I go to a ‘colour of the year’ party I can make good use of this palette. I won’t feel too badly about throwing it out if I don’t use it though.
Estee Lauder Palette
I’m not sure if this palette has a name but I know I received it as a birthday present from my friend’s mum. I love the formula of the shadows and the payoff is also really nice plus the shades are pretty safe and wearable so perhaps I can give this a go (as well as the blush!)
I absolutely hate swatching on my skin, even though it shows the product more clearly… but here’s some swatches of the eye shadows if you’re interested!
In case you can’t already tell, 99% of these products are from Rimmel!
Covergirl Outlast Lipstain in “420”
When these first came out I loved the idea because lipstick can wear off so quickly… I wore this a few times but never really stuck to it. I find it has dried up a bit too, so this might just end up as a toss.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush in “Viva Violet”
This stuff smells like cotton candy, it’s such an addicting thing. I’m pretty sure I purchased this in 2015 at some point, but I just haven’t worn it as much as I would like… plus the colour is rather hit and miss for me (some days I love it, some days I hate it…)
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in “Aurora”
I think I bought this in 2014. I love the colour of this, I hate how dry my lips get when I wear it. You have to have super hydrated lips to pull this off. Plus it smells kinda gross, but I will give it a go! I really do like the packaging- for branding I give it an A+
Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks in “Tulip Pink,” “Sweetheart Tulips,” and “Rose Passion”
When I dyed my hair hot pink I had the brilliant idea that I needed to match my hair to my lips and therefore I bought various shades of pink lipstick way back in 2012. Sweetheart tulips is the lightest of the bunch and I can definitely see myself finishing it, as for the other colours… we’ll see.
Vichy ProEven BB Cream in ‘Light’
I absolutely LOVE this product; the reason why I haven’t finished it is because it got lost in my drawer! It’s probably expired because I bought it in 2014, but oh well…
Maybelline Baby Skin
Do you remember when this first debuted? Yeah. That’s when I purchased it, and it’s still in the packaging. I don’t know whether I’ll like it, but I guess we’ll find out this year!
So there’s 12 products that I want to use up this year, I’ll be doing quarterly installments of my progress throughout 2016! Wish me luck 😉
