Garnier Micellar Water | What’s in my Makeup?

Garnier Micellar Water

It’s been two months since I purchased this! Where has the time gone? I can’t believe how quickly 2016 is moving… (everyone says this) but seriously, like in 30 days I’m going to be done with my post-secondary education.

*fast forward twenty minutes*

Now that my existential crisis has passed, let’s carry on with the post for today.

Garnier Micellar Water ‘What’s in my Makeup’

Garnier Micellar Water

I would say that I’m well versed in the world of micellar waters, having tried the Bioderma one as well as the Nivea one I have a good idea of how magical they are. This is no exception.

How does it work?

Like any Micellar water it can be a bit stubborn to remove waterproof makeup with. I prefer the packaging over Nivea’s version (which had a tendency to leak.) Therefore if I had to rate it, I’d place it first for price point (much more affordable than Bioderma’s), packaging and how well it removes makeup.

What’s in it?

Formulated without Oil, Alcohol and Fragrance.

Aqua (Water), Hexylene Glycol (Emulsifying/ Solvent), Glycerin (Solvent), BHT (Masking), Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate (Skin Conditioning), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Poloxamer 184 (Surfactant), Polyaminopropyl Biguanidee (Preservative).

So it’s a fairly short list, which is awesome. Compared to the ingredients in the Nivea Micellar water this much better. As well, most the ingredients rate pretty low on the Skindeep website, the only ones that you should be concerned about are BHT (a masking agent) and maybe the last preservative. Interestingly, this formula uses derivatives of the fatty acid found in coconut oil.

If you’re a fan of micellar waters and don’t have the $$$ to purchase the Bioderma one, this is an awesome alternative!

Have you tried the Garnier micellar water?

I always enjoy using my micellar waters as they work so well at removing remaining make-up after my first but mostly second cleanse as I notice even after cleaning product can stay on the skin! x

Yes! For sure, micellar waters are a great first step cleanse!

  • I honestly love this micellar water by Garnier and like you, I rate it above Bioderma because it’s way more affordable.

ps: I know right?! Where on earth did the time go?! I mean it’s already freaking April!

    • lindseyelyse

Nothing beats cheap/ affordable and it works!

  • Haha, totally feel you re: time going by so quickly. Two weeks from today I’ll be done my degree! Ahh!

I feel like I’m in the minority, but I don’t love this micellar water. I found it too drying for me. I really wanted to like it because it’s so inexpensive! You just never know what will dry you out. 🙁 I actually haven’t tried the Bioderma (I have a bottle I got for free from work but I haven’t opened it yet) but I really like the La Roche-Posay one. I’ve been using the Jouviance one and it’s okay, but not as good as LRP. And I really didn’t care for the Avène one. I’m excited to try the OG and see how it compares, haha.

    • lindseyelyse

Ah so scary! Oh that’s no good! I usually only use it to remove eye makeup now- and my makeup eraser for everything else. The La Roche Posay sounds good!

  • The time flies freaking fast!!! I love micellar water by Garnier. It’s affordable and does amazing job for me! I have no idea how I lived without it for so long, haha 🙂

  • I haven’t tried this one, I usually bulk buy Bioderma (ah, alliteration!) when in France, but it is good to know which alternative to go for when I run out.

  • I know it’s a great dupe for Bioderma, I haven’t actually got the Micellar Water yet! I would love to try it though, maybe I can soon <3

  • I love this one and it’s always good to have one that doesn’t leak hehe ! I’m happy to hear that it hasn’t got many ingrediants in 🙂 It is a pity it’s not so good on waterproof mascara but I’m pretty sure in the uk at least, they’ve got a version of garnier micellar water out that is especially improved for waterproof make up !

    lots of love, Marianne xxx

  • After I finish my bottle(s) of bioderma I will give this one a try, I’m always up for using somethign cheaper! I’m not sure how much the marcelle micellar water was but I didn’t really like that one 🙁

  • Funnily enough I wasn’t a fan of this one, but have you tried the new oil version? Oh my gosh it’s SO so good! xx

  • I always wondered why Bioderma was so expensive.. I actually found bioderma didn’t remove my makeup that well, particularly my mascara but that might be because I really spider my lashes up. I guess there’s no harm trying this one since it’s considerably cheaper! Thanks for sharing! X

So glad to hear this works. I love my bioderma micellar water but I’d probably want a more affordable alternative when I run out!

Definitely, if you try it I hope you like it!

  • I purchased this one recently but I haven’t tried it yet (I aim to finish my Loreal first). I am so glad that people are loving it and I hope that my skin will love it too 🙂

I didn’t know L’oreal had a micellar water! Definitely better than the Bioderma one in terms of price!
